Friday, June 10, 2022 - Quite overwhelmed by American oak when first popped. I suspected that some air would fix that since this had a lot of dense fruit when I had it a few years back. Sure enough, 30-60 minutes later the fruit was blossoming and pushing those oak aromas into the background. There is density yet on the palate which agrees with how it looks. Touches of mature expressions around the edges. The tannin still gives a solid grip after waiting its turn. A strong wine from a challenging vintage. I need to buy this more often. Terrific value here. Fruit to spare for further aging.
