Still looks rather youthful in colour - ruby, not garnet. Good clarity and medium plus density. Black cherry. Cocoa. Coconut. Cherry ripe. Something earthiness on mid-palate. Spices - clove. Restrained mouthfeel. Good length.

Quite overwhelmed by American oak when first popped. I suspected that some air would fix that since this had a lot of dense fruit when I had it a few years back. Sure enough, 30-60 minutes later the fruit was blossoming and pushing those oak aromas into the background. There is density yet on the palate which agrees with how it looks. Touches of mature expressions around the edges. The tannin still gives a solid grip after waiting its turn. A strong wine from a challenging vintage. I need to buy this more often. Terrific value here. Fruit to spare for further aging.

Pluot, roasted fig, pie cherry and light spice give way to tobacco, cracked leather, vanilla, cedar, tarragon, sage and dried flower petals. Very smooth palate with an excellent balance of acid, fruit, and earth. Medium bodied and velvety, light tannin and a long lean finish. Drinking very well now, might go up a point or two with a few more years laying down.

Incredible fruit, tart cherry, plum, currants, long tart fruit finish. Fun to drink!

Still showing great complexity. Decanted for 3 hrs. Smoke, leather, dark cherry and spice.
