Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - This wine still needs a LOT of decanting. Had some surprise company for an italian sausage dinner, so popped and poured. First sips were way too hot, masking the fruit. The bottle being too warm did not help, either. Decanted about half the bottle and stuck it in the fridge to lower the temp. But still the wine was still too hot that night.

But tonight, about 48 hours after opening, the last of this bottle displays wonderful fruit, soft tannins and nice mouthfeel. With enough air time to get rid of the heat, it has excellent balance. The bouquet shows fruit and earth. Color is medium red with medium body. So the wine still has a ways to go and I'm glad I have several more bottles.
