Friday, November 9, 2018 - Finally my first Giraud! Palish salmon colour. Smells pinot-dominated (I don't know if it is though), a nice, rich, creamy, somewhat caramelised red fruit aroma. The taste is very similar, a nice tangy acidity, red fruit, and a bit of oxidation. The cork was fairly shrunken, too - everything points to a moderate bottle age, which has suited this wine well, despite being in a clear bottle. Eventually, the aroma turns to strawberries and cream. I didn't expect this to be so good, being so cheap, but it's very much to my taste. Plenty of stuffing, and wearing its maturity very well. Great value. [Cork + cage; 12% abv; Cornelius Wine, Edinburgh, ~£27].
