Monday, December 13, 2010 - After a couple of hours uncorked (which I'm not really sure made a difference), the nose was quintessential CA syrah - meat, leather, salt air, dark fruit and baking spice. If you like savory, you could not ask for anything more. Just a hint of oak that in no way took away from what the fruit had to offer. Great structure with well balanced tannins on the finish, which lingered for quite a while. I don't think this needs any additional time in the bottle and can be enjoyed right now.
I will say there was some secondary fermentation/gas present that was quickly dispensed with after a vigorous shake of the bottle.
An absolutely incredible value at $20 that, honestly, rivals the best Sonoma syrahs I've had.
