1999 Delectus Cuvée Julia

Friday, June 29, 2018 - Many tasting notes say that this wine is past its prime and I fully expected the same, but when I opened this wine, the cork was in fantastic shape with no leakage and the wine was YOUTHFUL. Purple in color with bold primary and secondary aromas of earth, oak, and berry compote.
Sediment was present but was very fine, and the wine was vibrant with bracing acidity.
Age was apparent on the rim and in the earthy palate, but the wine was in MUCH better shape than I anticipated. I was very impressed.
