Many tasting notes say that this wine is past its prime and I fully expected the same, but when I opened this wine, the cork was in fantastic shape with no leakage and the wine was YOUTHFUL. Purple in color with bold primary and secondary aromas of earth, oak, and berry compote.
Sediment was present but was very fine, and the wine was vibrant with bracing acidity.
Age was apparent on the rim and in the earthy palate, but the wine was in MUCH better shape than I anticipated. I was very impressed.
My last bottle. Definitely past it's prime, but still very drinkable. Worked well with barbecue ribs. Has taken on an herbal aroma and a very earthy palate, with soft tannins and muted acidity. Most of its mojo is gone, but It must have been a stunner in its day.

Opened thinking it was past its time based on other reviews. Boy, was I or were they wrong. Still drinking extremely well although cork was a bit soft. Loads of fruit remain although clearly at its peak.

Drank 2 bottles of this 2/23-26/2011. Was past recommended drinking date by several years. Had lost most of the magic I associate with Delectus Cuvee Julia. Don't get me wrong--this was not a bad wine, just one showing its age. Undoubtedly wasn't a fair test. Should have consumed this much earlier. Fortunately I still have many more recent vintages in the cellar.

Drank from 750, 1.5L, 3L during dinner. Tremendous wine with lots of life, especially the 1.5L and 3L.
