Saturday, July 8, 2023 - Light brick, slightly cloudy. Took 20 min in the glass for the nose to open to a typical sweet black cherry, heavy on skins with a nice Gevrey minerality - lovely. Entry is delightful sweet cherry with a lot of complexity from the start. Linear profile to an elegant just slightly bitter finish. Incredibly integrated with no harsh edges. Long and smooth. The finish is not particularly acidic or tannic just lovely complexity fitting for it's age. It is not a super elegant wine, but has a masculine animalistic character with the edges rounded off. A bit like an older metrosexual man. :) We just were in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin today for lunch so perhaps I am overly romanticizing it. No matter, lovely bottle.

7/8/2023 1:12:00 PM - Totally understand the animalistic comment, I get bacon all the way. Smooth as silk and well balanced in its age. Lovely drinking all on its own. Reminded me of sunshine on a meadow, a little grass on the nose with the cherry. I was sad when w e finished it, so delicious!
