Saturday, October 25, 2014 - The 2009 Mugneret Gibourg is a brilliant rendition of this habitually outstanding cuvée, bursting from the glass in a blaze of raspberries, violets, Vosne spices and beautifully judged new wood. Ethereal and elegant, on the palate there is an outstanding core of silky tannins and it becomes apparent, despite the wine's incredibly charming and inviting personality, that it is actually a good five or more years away from really unwinding and showing the full extent of its depth and breadth—which is considerable. I see this matching or surpassing the stunning 2002 (which is still a young wine).
