Tuesday, May 31, 2022 - Full ruby color, garnet at the rim. Expressive nose, darker fruits and earth tones, mixed with some spice - worthy of attention. Really quite full on the palate with an enveloping creamy textural viscosity derived perhaps from the venerable age of the vines. Density and intensity to the complex fully ripe fruit. A wine of the soil with a certain ruggedness to its profile - a sinewed muscularity - but not without refinement to its fruit. Beautiful balance. Only medium acid but the tannins, while fully ripe are quite assertively present on the gums and very slightly dry. Really good length. This is simply excellent for its level and will go for ages yet. One senses the best is yet to come - but alas this my only bottle. Authentic serious Gevrey. Indeed, the reason one drinks Gevrey. Bought on release.
