Full ruby color, garnet at the rim. Expressive nose, darker fruits and earth tones, mixed with some spice - worthy of attention. Really quite full on the palate with an enveloping creamy textural viscosity derived perhaps from the venerable age of the vines. Density and intensity to the complex fully ripe fruit. A wine of the soil with a certain ruggedness to its profile - a sinewed muscularity - but not without refinement to its fruit. Beautiful balance. Only medium acid but the tannins, while fully ripe are quite assertively present on the gums and very slightly dry. Really good length. This is simply excellent for its level and will go for ages yet. One senses the best is yet to come - but alas this my only bottle. Authentic serious Gevrey. Indeed, the reason one drinks Gevrey. Bought on release.

Darker medium ruby color with some purple. High viscosity. Open and radiant notes of black and dark red fruit, sweet spices (like cinnamon), a dark mineral undertone, some underwood too, also a touch of smoke, violets and also some black pepper. It's medium-full bodied, has medium acidity and medium+ tannin that is still present but silky. Very good length. A super beautiful Gevrey-Chambertin that punches way above it's (village) weight-class, as always. This is from very old vines so don't be fooled by the village appellation. For me, year after year one of the very fine relative values in the Côte-de-Nuits.

Medium full body. Concentrated red fruit. Mellow acidity with mild tannins. Somewhat modern with a fruit forward style. Drink now and for the next few years.

Drank this alongside a Batailley 04 with some Roast Beef. Quite full-bodied, with lots of red fruit flavours and great freshening acidity. Longer than I remember from last time out. Great to have the two contrasting wines bringing out the best in each other.

Second Sunday Group: Pinot Noir (Augie's): Double blind. Aromas of cherry, florally perfume and just a hint of earth. This is very pretty. Cherry and orange peel qualities with good acidity. Balanced; finishes with good length and hints of red fruit, earth and spice. The acid is just a bit prickly at times otherwise I may have scored this a little higher. 90-91 pts.

Very similar tasting note to the one from June 2015. A very beautiful and complex Villages Gevrey-Chambertin and a great value in today's Burgundies. It combines beautiful richness for villages-level with nice freshness and complexity.

Excellent.

SO'd for 4 hours. Expressive nose of dark red and dark berries, sweet and savory spices, smoke, minerality and some dark flowers. On the palate there are dark and dark red berries again with licorice, some dark minerals, smoke. It's medium-full bodied, rich but with a lot of tension and medium-high acidity providing tons of freshness, medium+ tannin (that is super silky) adding some grip. Very good length with a lot of freshness again. A very beautiful, expressive and rich but fresh and elegant Gevrey-Chambertin. It will still have plenty of years ahead and definitely get even much better but it's already very beautiful now (like many 2009s). Always one of the best villages Gevrey-Chambertins I know.

Tasted alongside the 2007 Esmonin Gevrey Clos St. Jacques, this is a much more foursquare and masculine Burgundy. Fairly tough wine that improved after 2 days opened.

Fine Vines Fall 2014 Portfolio Tasting: Tasting, brief note. Forward and very pleasurable black fruit, slightly simpler than I recall from previous times tasted. Good now, but with potential to pick up nuance.

Decanted 1 hour. Surprisingly approachable now, earthy nose moves on to berries and darker fruits with a nice spice developing after some time in the glass

91+ pts

Last one of 6 and the best. Perhaps a little full on for the Burgundy purist, but still a delicious and well-made wine.
