It doesn't overwhelm the wine but if you take a sniff without swirling its unmistakable. The acidity is generous under a nice chalky character but the fruit expression just isn't generous enough to lift it over the negatives of the vintage. Interesting that they bolstered this with 6% Pinot Noir. I've liked this bottle in its extra brut form and have missed it in the SoCal market. I hope it makes a return behind better vintages.
