Tuesday, March 6, 2012 - Tasted at the winery. Dark ruby toward purple from core to rim. Powerful aromas of red and black currant, polished leather, baking spices dominate at first, but additional complexity pushes through every 10 minutes. Full-bodied, seamless and more open knit and slightly less powerful than the 07 and (most certainly) the 08, this manages just 13,7% abv but make no mistake, it absolutely possesses your palate, as well as your entire frontal lobe. An open spot on the mid-palate will most likely fill in with some bottle rest. 96% Cab Sauv, 3% Merlot, 1% Cab Franc with 20 months in 100% (all new) French oak. Be sure to aerate 12-15 hours prior to serving. An absolute joy to drink and most certainly worth the price of admission. recommended + Drink thru 2025, score: A
