Sunday, June 5, 2022 - Decanted three hours. Silty violet, slightly rusted rim. Remarkably vibrant, complex nose of leather, baking spice, tobacco, barnyard, and a green vegetal note I usually associate with Rioja. The complexity largely extends to the black-leaning midweight palate of ripe plum and blackberry, minerals, spice. Long finish, a little hot and bitter, remarkably coarse tannins that I love, but some may find off-putting. Plenty of structure to get slowly better for at least another decade, but I think it's very good today. Excellent with a steak frites.
