Sunday, January 7, 2024 - Two hour decant in glass. Nearly opaque ruby with murky brick edge in color. Pungent nose of plums, red delicious apple, red currants, licorice, tanned leather and tomato leaf. On the palate: red currants, plums, black cherry, sweet tobacco and a backnote of five spice powder. Grainy tannins are perceived somewhat on gums and cheeks. Long finish of plums, licorice, red berries and wood spice.

Wine was purchased recently from a large retailer. Cork disintegrated upon attempting to open the bottle. I doubt this has been stored correctly and am thus not sure its an exemplary bottle to judge from. That said, the wine was definitely not spoiled--in fact, it was quite enjoyable.
