Tuesday, June 9, 2009 - Fine ruby color. Pretty nose of blackberry bramble, ultra-ripe cassis and alcohol. Very soft and plush texture but with a good spine of acidity underneath. Really ripe, decadent fruit flavors of cassis, blackberries and licorice. Finishes with quite an alcoholic hit that sort of obliterates any potential complexity on the finish. This wine possesses such lovely fruit but is ultimately too ripe for its own good. Perhaps an off-bottle or an off-night for my mouth since it's been so good on other occasions.
