Sunday, September 12, 2010 - Beautiful thick dark ruby color. Lovely nose of cassis and black currants with bitter chocolate. This perfect bottle needed hours to really open up. Initially, it was huge and chocolaty and a bit too much but then the tannins softened and the wine mellowed into thick red silk. This is an extemely ripe wine with huge fruit but it's balanced by solid acidity and some tannic grip. I actually think well-stored bottles will be even better in a few more years. Only the alcohol on the finish takes away slightly from this awesome expression of Napa cab.
