89 Points

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 - Notes 24hrs after opening. Color is light ruby, about 40% opaque and a wide meniscus with rapid legs. Profound bouquet of red berry, roses, spice, and some smoky Mourvedre funk. Big body and smooth texture, it has a much darker flavor than the nose indicates. Dried cherry, plum, sweet tobacco, pie crust among the elements. Agree with the PN comparisons in acidity and tannin structure but the palate is all Rhone. Medium length, mineral-laden finish and overall, I have an impression of power and finesse that would pair up nicely with a wide range of edibles. Excellent. 4 +11+16+8 = 89
