Sunday, December 8, 2013 - Clear, Ruby-garnet in color, medium intensity. The nose is of medium intensity and medium (+) complexity. Some initial sulphur blows off, revealing aromas of black fruit, ripe cherries, plums, dried flowers, sweet spices, white pepper, some wood, liquorice. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, with medium alcohol at 14%, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins. The mouth-feel is smooth. There's good minerality. The body is medium to medium (+). Flavors are consistent with the nose, with medium (+) intensity. The finish is medium (+) in length. Overall, this is a fairly well balanced wine, leaning slightly towards the "hard" side of the spectrum. Definitely improves with food and with time in the glass. It is ready to drink but is likely to keep well for several more years. More intense, darker and deeper than a comparably-priced Chianti Colli Senesi.
