Almost Pinot Noir-like. Solid plum in colour with a balanced depth of acidity and faded tannin. The typical Sangiovese character is prevalent but softened by the age.

Clear, Ruby-garnet in color, medium intensity. The nose is of medium intensity and medium (+) complexity. Some initial sulphur blows off, revealing aromas of black fruit, ripe cherries, plums, dried flowers, sweet spices, white pepper, some wood, liquorice. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, with medium alcohol at 14%, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins. The mouth-feel is smooth. There's good minerality. The body is medium to medium (+). Flavors are consistent with the nose, with medium (+) intensity. The finish is medium (+) in length. Overall, this is a fairly well balanced wine, leaning slightly towards the "hard" side of the spectrum. Definitely improves with food and with time in the glass. It is ready to drink but is likely to keep well for several more years. More intense, darker and deeper than a comparably-priced Chianti Colli Senesi.

Mid-garnet colour to a pink-red ribbon. Lifted, frozen berries, raspberry, cranberry and herbs of tarragon and touch of fennel. Not overly complex and quite light in intensity, the wine has lively acidity, sinewy texture and no perceptible wood. The flavours are pumice stone, bright frozen raspberry, white pepper. Overall a raw wine with coarse-grained tannin, medium length and a little alcohol spike in the mid-palate. A little spiky alcohol and peppery. Pleasant without wowing

The nose showed strawberry, floral notes and undergrowth. On the palate, it was juicy and balanced with dark red fruits. The finish was staying with a floral perfume that lingered. This is a superb Rosso.
