Thursday, November 24, 2022 - Needed some serious decanting to open it up. Plan to give a plenty of time to air.
Medium ruby-garnet color. Slight bricking on the rim. A hint of fine sediments.
Juniper, Lavender, Sage, thyme, a slight hint of leather and game meat. Ripe Black raspberry fruit - a bit like preserve or fruit liqueur - mixed with some anise note. Midpalate of cherry pit bitterness and leathery note. Finishes with a lot of spices (close, all spice, black pepper), licorice, and black tea. Tannin is well-integrated. A very slight hotness in back palate.
Medium plus to full body. Medium acidity.
A textbook CDP. This is a little riper and bigger vintage for Vieux Télégraphe.
A hint of black olive is emerging as a tertiary character if I look for it. Otherwise, it is still going strong with a plenty of life and fruit. No need to hurry.
