decanted and poured, drinking very well, though it did get a bit better over the time open, I don't get the sense it would have benefited by a long decant

Opened for 30 minutes prior to tasting. Luminous medium burgundy color; lovely perfumed nose. Stunningly luscious fruit, despite all the years of bottle age this one has.
It has matured beautifully, and it is recommended for your near term drinking pleasure. Outstanding!

This bottle was in its happy place with beautiful fragrant red and dark fruit, Mediterranean spices, earth, floral and mineral notes. Quite robust palate presence, but with an energetic thrust and long, lingering red-fruited finish. A really superb vintage for this wine.

Expressive nose that made itself known as soon as I popped the cork - raspberry and red cherry with warm spices and some savory notes. This was a last minute decision and didn't have time for a full decant - P&Pd and let sit for 30 minutes in the glass, which turned out to be just fine. Beautiful violet/dark ruby red moving to transparent at the edges. Moderately sweet red fruit on the front of the palate with maybe just a bit of blue-black, nicely judged acidity through the mid palate and very present but refined tannins on a long finish. It's big, bold wine to be sure but not heavy and, despite the 14.5% ABV, did not taste hot or alcoholic. I expected this to taste dark and heavy and while we were surprised that it wasn't, that didn't detract at all from our enjoyment. Will be interesting to see how this develops and if some of the tertiary elements come more to the fore - right now this is still primarily fruit-driven which is fine for now but will check in on the evolution every three or so years.

Deep, complex, spicy, sweet Châteauneuf-du-Pape aroma. Dark fruits, graphite, chocolate, licorice. just the faintest hint of barnyard/leather. The fruit is mostly stewed with an herbal aftertaste (mint?). Intense dark fruit flavors. Velvety smooth but a little hot on the finish.
Showing signs of maturity now but no rush. Delicious. Requires a 1-2 hour decant.

Opened and decanted about 2hr before a meal. This is throwing quite a bit of sediment, so decanting was a good move. The nose is amazing: explosive aromas of dark fruit, leather, herbs. 93-94 pts for that alone. The palate did not quite live up to the nose, however. Despite exhibiting quality fruit, licorice, and some stemminess/greenness, there was some underlying harsh element that I could not name. But it was there and, to me, distracted a bit from what was otherwise an excellent wine. Others did not pick up on that component, so it was just my individual impression. Had that not been evident, a clear 95 pointer. Otherwise, a 92-93. I would recommend a longer decant or hold for another 5+ years, maybe 10.

Dark red to rim. Forward nose on pop and pour. Blackberry, cherry, iron, moist earth, pepper, floral notes on the nose. Medium to full bodied, ripe fruit, excellent balancing acidity and tannin, nice complexity, medium finish. Drinking beautifully, has many years to go. Excellent-outstanding.

Decanted for 40 minutes. A wine that may be plateauing. A medium bodied palate showing a mix of bright red fruit (red cherry & raspberry), darker fruits (blackberry) and garrigue - with spice, a touch of pepper and balancing acidity. Will remain enjoyable for several years but will probably not improve so drink up for maximum enjoyment.

Slightly cloudy garnet with a slight orange hue. Delicious fruit salad/ fruit punch bouquet. Mulberries dominate. Pleasant but unremarkable. I remain underwhelmed by the La Crau vineyard, which I acknowledge makes me an apostate.

First Wednesday Wine Club Rhone Dinner (One Penny Red, Summer Hill): Spiced black fruits, a little alcohol prickle, red berry, slightly peppery, lots of garrigue and leather, big but fresh, Juicy, fleshy, ripe, rich fruit, touch of dried fruit, almost touches of sweet spice, textured burr persists long, alcohol present but controlled. Yum

Dull ruby with minimal fading. A darker fruit, brooding nose. Medium weight, excellent meaty feel. Bark, garrigue, and dark red fruit with citrus, earth, and moderate tannins. As before, this is much more somber, serious, and backward than most vintages of VT that I've had. Very little change over the past year. Terrific and built for the long run.

Wow! Even better than the magnum I had 10 months ago. PnP. Nose of dust, iron, garrrigue in spades, black olive, mourvedre funk, a touch of leather. On the palate incense cedar, cherries, raspberries, minerals. Very fresh and lively, the fruit is almost sweet and the wine has a lovely voluptuous texture. The finish is long with a nice tightness, tannins resolved. Shows very young. Really great CdP and an excellent VT.

Solid cdp very dark stewed fruit with leather , tobacco, iron, earthy minerality on the finish. Enjoyed with char grilled ribeye. Don’t think it’s going to evolve further but should stay in the window for a while.

Decanted for a few hours. It seemed to help. The nose shows nori, lavender, raspberry and kirsch liqueur. Ripe and rich palate, brawny yet velvety texture and some fine, grippy tannins show up on the finish. Still ascending, but pleasurable now.

Popped and poured. Dark garnet color; blackberry nose.
There are still some hints of overripeness, but that quality has faded quite a bit compared to bottles that were consumed a few years ago. The present result is a nicely integrated wine with few sharp edges. The flavor profile is round, with savory notes of leather, spice and tobacco underneath rich black fruit.
It is well structured, but the tannins have softened considerably. I believe that it is now in its prime drinking window and I would encourage you to open a bottle if you own some, and after tasting, let the rest of us know what you think of this classic CDP.

Medium ruby, with surprisingly little age showing on it, maybe just a bit of bricking at the edge. Rather shy, but convincingly S. Rhone nose, pepper and some meatiness, with a perfume note. Palate is super smooth, just a titch hot, but deep and rich, went very well with brick-oven roasted rib-eyes.

Very good, beginning to come into its own; lovely dark fruits, garrigue, some spice, violet, tobacco; a complex and lovely nose. Dense, but balanced with good energy on the palate; this is really quite lovely and has upside from here if you enjoy aged wine.

This is in a great spot and was open from the beginning. Black cherry and currants mixed with sandal wood and spice notes. This is suave and integrated, with fine tannins and wonderful freshness on the palate. Love the balance here. In it's early drinking window but can continue to age for a long time given the tannins.

Heady nose of mulberries, ripe blackberries, garrigue and spice box. Supple-textured, this is rich and full and loaded with super ripe black fruits, tons of sweet (but not overripe) fruit, licorice (?), prunes, white pepper, rosemary, thyme and spices. This comes across as still unformed and holding back. Quite nice now with enough time in decanter, but I won't touch another bottle until it's at least 18. Not sure I'd call it elegant, but it is seamless and refined for CdP. Drink 2026-2035 95
6+ hours in decanter: Kirsch liquor and some stony minerals.

Dark red to rim. Forward nose immediately on opening. Cherries, dark berries, moist earth, pepper, hints of sweet flowers. Medium to full bodied, ripe fruit, excellent balancing acidity and tannin, early complexity, medium finish. Drinking beautifully now, likely to improve and add complexity over the next 5-10 years. Excellent, approaching outstanding.

Decanted 90 min. Very good but not as special as the last bottle of this we had 5 months ago. Drank the last glass the next day side by side with a 2010 Charvin and was surprised that Charvin was definitely the better wine.

Coin flip open, this won. Nice intact cork and stained the nicest beautiful burgundy I ever saw. I wish I could either have a suit or a car interior of this color. The faintest aroma upon opening but for the most part bouquet nonexistent. Day 2. Fruit now present by about 60% more than yesterday. Also more astringent but don't think it's from alcohol but tannins. Had it with salted popcorn and don't know if this affected the astringency. Keep wanting to taste more after each sip. Still evolving in my opinion, and only concern is if fruit goes the distance. But think even if it doesn't the wine has enough structure to evolve where the secondary flavors are the best feature. Oh yes, acidity not overbearing but helps the juicy feel of the fruit. Enjoyable 2010 and based on this would purchase again in a good vintage.

Vieux Telegraphe Vertical (The Sun Street Hotel, Liverpool Street): A darker red, closer to the 2005. A nose like blackberry jam, this is full of opulent cool blue fruit. Superbly balanced, close to ideal fruit and acidity with loads left in the tank. I felt that the 2001, 2005 and the 1990 were drinking better on the night, but this vintage I think will eclipse the lot further down the line, it has everything ready and in place but all in the background. A wonderful future awaits so forget about this for five or even seven years and then come back to it. 92 this evening, but I'd pencil it in for 95. So looking forward to my magnums, what prescience...

Vieux Telegraphe Vertical (Sun Street Hotel, Liverpool Street, London): Some subtle oak derived coconut here methinks, with some charming florality, violet macaron? Palate has great poise and balance. I can see why JLL rated it so highly. One for the future. My 4th favourite wine of the night amidst some stiff competition.

Beautiful color of dark ruby, with a cloudy brick rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black plums, cherries, sweet strawberries, spices, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco leaf, eucalyptus, earth, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 13 year old is drinking beautifully now. Shows exactly how you would expect it to, especially from this wonderful vintage.
Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Good by itself or with food. Rich yet elegant.
Good right out of the bottle, and much better after 2 hours of airtime, when tannins show up.
I've had a few different vintages of this wine, younger and older, and I find this to be at a perfect age for my palate. Nonetheless, it will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.
The vintage is showing through as a strong one. Last tasted in 2018, my notes were similar. Lovely nose of garrique and pepper, red fruit and a well fleshed round body with well integrated tannins and a long finish. Just delicious and still early maturity.

This was good. Dark fruit, coffee and earth. Tannins are quite strong. 13 years isn’t nearly long enough. Looks like I’ll have to live another 10 years to try the next bottle. I only had 6 to start. I’m 61. Uh oh.
Coravin fun - Ch. de Beaucastel (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin and half bottle. Quite spicy, meaty, peppery over ripe (and almost resinous) baked red fruits, a touch of alcohol prickle, garrigue, liquorice, equally concentrated fruit on the palate is decidedly clumsy for me in this line up (not something I would have though would have occurred) tannins, woody had drying, fruit doesn't quite persist.
Nose- darker fruits, savory, pepper, & more earth with air. Palate- darker fruits, lots of minerals, with pepper, savory qualities & earthy notes subtle funk with perfectly integrated tannins, medium body & medium acidity. In a fantastic spot as everything is perfectly integrated. Lots of secondary characteristics with a very long finish. This is at peak or very close to but should hold for a while.

Out of magnum. Opened 2 hours prior to tasting. Great nose of blackberries, raspberries, dust, minerals, evergreen. The palate is rich and ripe, medium to full bodied. At first it had a bit of that roasted, pruned note found in some CdPs, but this faded over time and the wine was very fresh with nice acidity. Some tannins in the medium long finish. Very nice overall.

Closed up at first, decanted 2 hours. Delicious & serious -- robust, mature fruit and a long finish. Slight bricking, not sure these will get any better but no rush to drink. Had the last glass the following day side by side with an overly tannic Allemand cornas and this was hands down the better wine, with the fruit surprisingly prominent by comparison.

Needed some serious decanting to open it up. Plan to give a plenty of time to air.
Medium ruby-garnet color. Slight bricking on the rim. A hint of fine sediments.
Juniper, Lavender, Sage, thyme, a slight hint of leather and game meat. Ripe Black raspberry fruit - a bit like preserve or fruit liqueur - mixed with some anise note. Midpalate of cherry pit bitterness and leathery note. Finishes with a lot of spices (close, all spice, black pepper), licorice, and black tea. Tannin is well-integrated. A very slight hotness in back palate.
Medium plus to full body. Medium acidity.
A textbook CDP. This is a little riper and bigger vintage for Vieux Télégraphe.
A hint of black olive is emerging as a tertiary character if I look for it. Otherwise, it is still going strong with a plenty of life and fruit. No need to hurry.

From a bottle that was uncorked and poured, this deep garnet wine was tasted in double-blind fashion over a two-hour period. A blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 5% other permitted varietals, it delivers a rich aromatic and flavor profile of blackberry fruit that is accented with notes of fig, Provençal herbs, licorice, tobacco and exotic spices. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and without alcoholic heat (14.5%), it supports its flavors with plentiful silky-textured tannins and a modicum of wood. Layered on the mid-palate and lengthy on the finish, this is an outstanding Châteauneuf that continued to improve throughout the entire tasting interval. Additional aeration quite possibly could have resulted in an even higher score. Drink now-2035.

Kleur: Helder, doorzichtig oranjerood.. Colour: Clear, translucent orange-red.. Aroma / bouquet: Pleasant, but not extremely impressive, bouquet. Pleasant, moderately expressive and without the complexity that characterizes the most beautiful mature Ch9dPs, Taste / Aftertaste: Excellent acidity, nicely matured tannins with a refined bitterness in the final. Also from an aromatic point of view this wine is not great, but it is pleasant. Above average aftertaste. General / potential: From this house and with this wine…. Do I have higher expectations….. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Taste / Aftertaste: 15 + General / potential: 8 = 88/100

Ruby center, garnet rim. My word, what a fascinating, complicated nose-undergrowth, fragrant green herb, black licorice, and melted asphalt. The latter gives it a Nebbiolo-like aspect. Medium weight, quite sappy with substantial round tannins and real freshness due to perfect acidity. All of the savory elements swirl around while the spice and the beautiful raspberry and blackberry fruit in the background build and advance forward. This is a rather somber, serious expression of Vieux Télégraphe, but a great one, I think. Still so much more to show over time despite it being 12 years old.

I think this was the best Vieux Telegraph CdP I have had. I admit to being a little underwhelmed by past vintage bottles. I finally decided I had been expecting too much and to just enjoy it for what it is. However, this was the first bottle that hit greatness. Just a delicious wine with everything in balance. It was maybe a tad alcoholic, which might smooth out with a few more years in the cellar. It is still a fresh and lively wine at this point, with lots of good fruit. Southern Rhone in a bottle, in a great vintage. Perfect with grilled lamb chops.

Opened 3-1/2hrs prior to dinner & finding this a bit stern, decanted immediately & headed out for a 3-1/2 mile winter walk on my hiking crampons. 2hrs later this had opened up & calmed down significantly. Started sniffing and sipping in a couple Reidel Burgs prior to dinner. This btl is head & shoulders better than my last 6yrs ago and got more enjoyable as the evening progressed. Semi opaque ruby red. Loads of garrigue, smokey dark fruit & spice on the nose. Garrigue carries over to the palate where we pick up, subtle dark fruit, meat, all spice, herbs & mineral. More savory than fruity. Nicely balanced & elegant w/ 3hrs+ in decanter & addl time in my burg glass. W/O the decant this might have been a lot less appealing. This is in its early-mid window for sure, but no rush. 2 left, Ill open my next between 2025-2030 assuming I'm still here at 70 :). 14.5% alc went mostly unnoticed.
No formal notes. Feels as if it’s entering into a good drinking winder. Nice balance. No over extraction or cooked fruit flavors. Nice. Will continue to improve.

Decanted for 45 mins. Medium ruby. Finely spiced nose with bright overtones. Classical CdP aromas with hints of dried fruit, such as corinths. Also light nougat and milk chocolate. Bit of smoked sausage. On the palate powerful and robust, with some firmness and tannins still to be resolved. Long warming finish. A convincing version of La Crau that can easily age for longer.

4th of 6 at 2010 CdP tasting. This is an outstanding wine, but, a bit surprisingly, it did not fair so well against the competition this time out. I would say it was a little on the passive side, whereas some of the others were more expressive and lively.

14.5% vol Mature appearance, some lightning and garnet with a brick rim (some brown here too).
Touches of tapenade and perfumed blue fruits, raisin too, and some beef(!). Showing very goof freshness and clarity, there is lift and a lovely 'Porty' fragrance.
Big on the palate, this has real scale and all of the 14.5% vol, but plenty of lift with it. It it spicy and hot in parts, with great texture and lots of juice, lively acidity and a speckled feel. Back in the Saddle (St. Dinette, St. Paul): Dark red color. PNP, drank a glass plus over an hour. Holy cow, it's been five years since I last had this. Not surprisingly this has come a long way since then. I think we're in a pretty good spot from here on out. Garrigue, leather, kirsch, black cherry, and fresh herbs make up the nose. The palate is medium plus bodied with nicely folded tannins now; darker fruits, tobacco, kirsch, pepper and Provencal herbs. Loved the texture and acid too. 92+ to 93pts with upside.

Amazingly great wine! Decanted for about three hours before sampling. Everything is wonderful and balanced with bright sweet Grenache fruit flavors leading the way. Great mouthfeel, great nose, great color, and great aftertaste. We downed this bottle with ease!
Drinkable for sure out of the bottle, but decanted for about an hour. Strawberry, tar, forrest leaves on the nose. Palate reminiscent of alcohol infused peach pie, rhubarb bark, and shoe leather on the finish. More alcohol forward than I generally like, but not offensively so. Overall enjoyable, but was hoping for a bit more given the producer, year, and bottle age. Remember enjoying this quite a bit several years ago when this was more fruit forward. Not sure of the aging potential here, but have a few more bottles so we'll find out.

14.5% alcohol. Long cork of high quality with no wine penetration at all. Medium colour with some thinning but no bricking at the edge of the rim. The nose is refined with a lively cocktail of liquorice, garrigue, truffle and fresh fig. In the mouth, the wine is lively and fruity but nowhere near as good because the alcohol protrudes too much at this stage; lacking in complexity too. Some of the elements of a great wine are in place, but patience and optimism are required. Revisit in five years at the earliest, and to be honest there is a distinct possibility that this might never become harmonious. Time will tell. Not a repeat purchase.

This is an ultra-complex wine. Luscious strawberry jam combines with band-aid and kombu (iodine), dried brown figs, cigar, lavender, black pepper, and bitter herbs. It's certainly quite interesting, but I don't find it tasty. While I rated it 94 and 95 in prior tastings, that's not how I feel tonight. I feel more like my 91 rating from a year ago.

Dark, Dark purple. Tightly wound nose of raisins, figs, menthol and plum. Wow! What an explosion of fruit on the front and mid-palate! Chocolate, cocoa, burnt orange(?), and a mouthful of garrigue!! Incredibly overripe, and a touch port-like. Intense, powerful, showy and delicious.

Thick, serious CdP with lots of layers. Notes of dried figs, candied cherrries, cigar, violets, bandaid, lots of stuff. The main weakness, common to many high-end CdPs, is low acidity. Despite the massive concentration and complexity, the wine tastes a little flat. Tannins are big but appropriate.
This wine obviously can age for a long time. I think it is near peak, but probably still on the young side of the aging hill.

Dark purple in color. Big palate with some dark fruits and olives, earthiness, and woodlands. Smooth and balanced. Although I like more fruit, I thought this delicious.

Decanted an hour, than capped the decanter for another 45min before pouring. A fair amount of sediment for only ten years from harvest but still has noticeable grip. Fruit was shy in this bottle. The earthy savory back half of the sip was there the whole time. Fruit didn’t show until hour 5, when tart cranberries and maybe raspberries emerged. Less than a shade dry of perfect balance. Interesting but a bit confounding at this stage. Not sure whether a fast pour or 6-hour decant would have been better.

Classic, huge garrigue nose. Ruby red color. Fabulous mouthfeel. Blueberry, violets, lavender, blackberry, all overripe and stunningly good. Looking forward to following this one as. I work through the case.

Cracked the first of my three bottles. Pop and pour, then followed over a few hours. It showed some alcoholic heat early on, and it’s a ripe, “modern” wine for sure. That did settle down a bit. I’m in the minority on this forum, but I’m good with this style of southern Rhône. No barnyard at all. Ripe berries, dark fruit, dust and damp earth on the nose. Some hints of tar and black licorice. Medium weight mouthfeel with a good balance of acid and tannin - some grip, but generous. Similar fruit flavors as the aromas, with the addition of ripe plum skin. A bit hedonistic but not over the top for my palate, and a moderately long finish. 93 if you’re not a fruit-hater. Good to go now IMO.

Plenty of dark fruits in this full bodied, dense Chateauneuf. The tannins are still massive. It is very good but I think I will leave it for 3+ years before trying again.

Drinking in its prime right bout now. Full bodied but with a clear sense of elegance and old world charm. Good acidity on the finish says to me it will continue to age well but drinking window is pretty much now

It’s dark garnet colored, slightly opaque, full bodied, dense concentrated, complex black cherry and black currant fruits, black olives, licorice, spice and crushed pepper tones with hints of tobacco, magnificent 'legs' of structured, textured tannins yet smooth and approachable on the finish.
3 hour Audouze. Bright ruby red. Wet earth and muted fruit with some heat on the nose. Mouthfeel thin and slightly edgy tannins, hints of plum. Medium long sour cherry finish. I found this wine quite reticent, still needs time to develop and integrate. Has potential to be great. Check again in 2022-23.

Bloody water crimson color. Shaved wood, mixed berries, and strong alcohol on the nose. It needs a solid hour to open up and blow off a distracting funk. Musty red berry mash up front transforming to a graphite, plum skin, vanillin, and black cherry finish that lasts a long time and is very tasty. I think I remember not liking this wine in previous bottles, so it may be hitting a sweet spot, developmentally.

Lovely wine that to me seems fully mature. Good core of dark fruit and spice with atouch of earthiness. Certainly seems to entering its prime drinking window. I would drink up over the next year or two.

This wine is now drinking quite well. Rich spice, dark and red fruit, balanced and and a nice finish. Since everything is blooming, I cannot speak to the nose. It went nicely with Tex-Mex.

PNP with honey baked ham and scalloped potatoes. Very good wine, with notes of spice and pepper, medium body and good finish. Sightly tilted to tannins over fruit, but improving greatly with food. The first few sips before dinner was served were quite austere.

Second Sunday Group: 2010 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (R&D's): Double blind. Opens with notes of black raspberry, pepper amd spices- nutmeg. Tannic. Red fruit and nutmeg palate. Becomes more dark-fruited as it sits in the glass, adding a woody/stemmy note that I like, along with a hint of cedar and herbs. Good but not as expressive as others in the lineup, remaining a bit firm and tight. 90-91 pts.
My #7, Domino's #5 Group #6, 65 pts
Clearly a hold at this point, this is simply too young.

Really fine wine. Just beginning its drinking window for my taste. Attractice aromas savory and sweet wafting, no heat. Palate is balanced for a CdP although some sweetness kicks in now and then to remind you of the vintage.

My second bottle of this vintage in three days. Even though I enjoyed this one more, I'm keeping my score the same. Popped 'n poured with my wine group at a NYC restaurant. Mixed feelings on this among the group. 4 out of the 10 of us, thought it was flawed. But an equal number loved it. It was very polarizing.

Did not seem "out of balance" to me. Wines tend to mature more quickly in my cellar, so perhaps it does need to be held for later. I decanted an hour and a half before drinking. Fruit was clearly there in both aromas and flavor. I got no note of woodiness. It did not hold up well for second night and some bitterness emerged. Suggest drinking at one sitting. Two more bottles to go and I am not in a hurry.

Cross between black cherry and garnet in colour. Nose is quite nice with dried red berries, pot pourri, macerated cherries, cured tobacco and abundant cedar notes. Super woody on the palate is the initial impression. Then comes those dried and macerated red berries, tar and red licorice, and finally quite a lot of mouth coating and puckery tannins before a rather hot finish. Seems disjointed and lacking in fruit flavour. Everything seems overwhelmed by wood and tannin. Not really that pleasant to drink and only slightly better with food. Rather disappointing once again. I would say this is dried out and dead. Pales in comparison to the 2010 Ch. de Beaucastel I had a couple of weeks ago! Fortunately it is my last bottle.
Strawberry/raspberry on the nose, with raspberry, blackberry, and cherry on the palate and classic notes of anise, iodine, plum, and white pepper, with moderate tannins and strong acidity on the long finish. If this went through a dumb phase, it is over it now. This is an excellent Chateauneuf in the early middle stage of development, with many good years ahead of it. It was a good value at about $70.

In early maturity state with deep ruby color and notable structure, which hasn't yet fully blended with the palate. It starts with raspberry and plumb, but gradually changes towards prune and black fruit flavors with decanting. Nicely aromatic

I need to drink more of this. Great aromas of raspberry, dried strawberries, maple bacon, dried herbs (bay leaf?). Gorgeous ruby red. The palate shares the fruit and some licorice with some great mineral laced throughout. I don’t have a real reference point for whether I popped this too soon or not as I know these can really age. I do know I’ll find more and enjoy exploring this region old and new! Which do you prefer old, young, or in between?
PNP. Medium red color. Raspberry, garrigue and sweet cherry on the nose. On palate, sweet raspberry, glycerin, backing spice and other red fruits. Medium+ acidity, sweet (low) tannins, medium+ body and very long finish - much more balanced than an '09 VT I had recently. Still good on night 2 but showed some degradation. 92+/-
Starting to wonder (Ex. Pegau) if my early obsession with CDPs is worth it. I would buy this again but would drink in the first 10 years of it's life -although I look forward to other CT users proving me wrong in the next 5-10 years!

Impressive, elegant C9P. Traditional in style, this wine is just in its youth of drinking pleasure. The balance is perfect – great fruit components intermixed with herbs, liquorice and a hint of bret. The tannins are sweet but a bit unresolved at the moment. Give this extraordinary Vieux Télégraphe another 5–20 years of cellaring to show its real potential. 94+

Popped and poured from split. This is a pure ruby wine, although there is some crusty sediment in the last glass. On the nose, I get raspberry, garrigue, black cherry, and seaweed. In the mouth, the wine is full and lush with a slight bramble aspect, all leaving a finish that is long and characterized by red fruit and mineral aspects. Overall, this is (to no one’s surprise) a classic bottle of CdP. It is showing well already but will likely improve with more time. 93 points.

Annual Summer wine event featuring Brisket (Steve and Jennie's): This was drinking better than I anticipated. Thankfully, this wine still has a very traditional CDP profile. At this age, you wonder if it will be in a dumb phase, but this bottle was not.

Grapes: 65% Gre, 15% Mou, 15% Syr, 5% others. Color: cherry red, pale, normal evolution. Nose: red fruit, floral, some alcohol, spices. Mouth: dark fruits, full body - excellent depth and concentration. Finishes with black sweet fruity finish, still tannic! Big, bold and alcoholic - what is not to like? Blockbuster wine - still young. 94 pt.

Deep dark reddish-violet garnet in color with some very slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruits aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of floral notes of lavender & earthy/dusty notes, kirsch & garrigue notes, Provencal herb notes, pepper, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full to full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of sweet dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, earthy & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing. At 9 years of age, it is approaching its peak of development, but still has potential to continue developing with further aging if cellared properly.
Bought upon release, decanted for 1 hour, dark red, ripe plums, sweet nose with meaty savoury tinge, very good depth & concentration, rich, full bodied, a great VT 93+

Last bottle I had of this was a bit dumb, but not this one. Though, it does seem to have a split personality. The nose and initial attack are bright red fruit, candied cherry and that lovely grenache sweetness. Mid-palate and on the finish it becomes dark, earthen and tarry. Lengthy, lingering black fruit and tar finish. I love the second personality - rough and bawdy. A great experience.

Again - a very disappointing bottle. It showed no fruit and was disjointed and astringent. It was also dry and while that is a characteristic of Vieux Telegraph, this bottle was extremely dry. Since this is the 2nd bottle that has been off, perhaps something else is amiss.
I bought a case of this wine in 2013 based on all the hype for the 2010s, tried it immediately and was very disappointed-straight forward, simple, awkward wine-and I thought about returning the rest of the case; this is my first bottle since, and has this wine ever evolved in the last five years. Now showing very refined, almost elegant, nice acidity, great grip and long, long finish. A very stylish CDP, with a long, worthy future. Lucky for me I was unable to return the wine five years ago!
Took time to come together, but with air became quite pretty, the nose shows lavendar, spiced plum and fresh raspberry, pure and fresh on the palate, showing flavors of herbs, violets, raspberry reduction, blackberry and baked cherry, full and round, juicy and mouth watering, a great vintage that drinks well recently and will age another decade or more

In a word - drinking really well now. Rich red fruit on the nose, medium density, soft rounded tannins already well integrated, and a lovely long finish. Warmer and more "fruity" than perhaps a classic CNDP, but very enjoyable, and was a hit with the crown at diner.

- Slow forming legs. It's unbalanced with a medium body. Coarse texture - Opened for a few hours before drinking. Quite disappointed. Flavors were harsh and underdeveloped. This 2010 CdP was slightly underwhelming (bottle 2 of 4 for us). Strong nose of alcohol and some herby-ness, which persisted even after 2.5 hrs in the decanter. There was some raspberry fruit and complexity in the wine, but it was slow to open up. Maybe this VT is in a “dumb” phase right now - Hold or decant at least 3 hours.

More sheeting than legs on inside the glass. Earthy dark magenta. Macerated cherries, kirsch, patchouli, leather and Campino candy nose. Puckery dry in the mouth despite the fruit extraction. Decent flavours of those macerated cherries again and, I hate to say it, almost bordering on cherry cough syrup, but there it is. High test on the alcohol front. Kind of a watery fruit finish that ends tannic and woody. A bit disappointing overall. Going with an 89 on this one and that might be generous.
Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, dark fruit - blackberry, black raspberry, and blueberry, black olives, red licorice, bacon fat, and dark flowers. Palate: Medium-full bodied, black and dark red fruit attack - blackberry and pomegranate, Asian spice, subtle licorice notes and dark earth join a solid acidic back-bone through the mid-palate, back-end is dominated by dark fruit, spice and earthiness which lingers through a 30-45 second finish. This is still quite youthful at the moment, plenty of stuffing but just a little harsh on the edges yet - drinking very well now but I see this getting even better over the next 2 - 4 years.

Dark red color with some change from rim to center. Great nose - iron, black raspberry, blackberry & sweet cherry. Similar flavor profile on palate with medium acidity, medium tannins (not noticeable given fruit) and very long finish. Guessed CDP. This has aged extremely well.

This wine seems to have "shut down" for now. Right out of the bottle this was a nice wine (rich, fruity, fresh, and balanced), but that did not last long. It became very dry on the palate, disjointed and uninteresting. I could have been the particular bottle. I think I will wait a year or so before trying another.

Lovely aroma of cherry and a bit of earth. Nice strong attack but it really falls off on the palate. The finish is a real let down. I think that this might be going through a dumb phase right now? I have had many bottles from other vintages and it's a goto for me, so this was a little disappointing. I won't look at another one for at least a couple of years.

I mean this was a "nice" wine with no flaws but unfortunately it didn't have any "wow" factor for us. Stored in my cellar, decanted two hours before drinking with dinner and it was just okay. Simple nose, some raspberry notes, smooth and short finish. Another bottle where pro reviews didn't match my experience.
Found my notes. Decanted for 1 hour. Medium red color, clear with no sediment. On nose, red raspberry, bright cherry, glycerin, lavender. On palate, raspberry, glycerin, cherry primarily. Medium body, high acidity - great balance and a long finish with some tannins noticeable but well integrated. 93-94 range. Loved this.

Black cherries, currants, and licorice in the nose. Plums and black cherries in the flavor. This will benefit from many more years in the cellar, but is very enjoyable now with a four hour decanting. A very well balanced wine with nice complexity and sweet tannins. It has a long smooth finish

This is drinking better each year i open it--Kirsch pepper and garrigue to the nose, well integrated tannins and acid for balance--good finish. The body id still fleshy with the structure to hold it. secondary flavors are coming in around the current and blackberries. Drinking very well now but Parker says let it sit another 3 years, so will hold off for another year for sure. Now i regret just buying 1 case!

Medium ruby color turning crimson at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose is very attractive and tightly knit with effervescent aromas of eucalyptus, violets, anise, and dried herbs. The palate is highly concentrated with a silky texture and vibrant acidity. Flavors of black cherry, raspberry, cranberry, plum, cassis, red licorice, leather, cola, and fig. Very lovely, elegant and sublime. Finishes long and refined, ending on a high intensity note. Drink now until 2030. 96+

Opened and decanted in bottle for 2+ hours. Didn't need the decant as it was alive and kicking from the first minute with big, bold zesty nose of wonderful plummy garrigue and rich red cherry fruit compote on the tongue. My only complaint was that it couldn't keep the party gong for more than 4 hours and started to taste tannic and somewhat bitter after this point in time. So maybe it's starting to shut down or else it's still not ready for its young adulthood stage. But while it remained open it was very rewarding. Great great balance and such sweet yet unassuming fruits. Let me tell you, when these '10s come together, they really do sing. I can't wait to see how they develop in the 10-15 year range.

Lovely medium red in color, upon opening a beautiful bouquet of red cherries, flowers, licorice, spices, could this be the greatest Vt in the last 30 years? Full bodied, meaty, juicy, complex, concentrated, tannic, will be long lived. Much more opened than the bottle drunk in 2013. after a 4 hour decant - nose about the same but not as fresh as when opened, silky tannins, balanced, but still a babe, next bottle in 3 years, I concur with Parker on this beauty 94+

Drunk together with Pegau 2010 cuvee reservee. Opened both bottles at 10.30 in the morning to let breath (kept in cellar with temperature of 12 celsius). At about 15:30 poured some wine into glasses to allow to better breath and move to slightly warmer location. Started to drink the wines at about 18:30. Both wines with nice typical chateauneuf character. The la crau was very fresh and complex but still young. The pegau had substantially more ripeness / age character. All preferred the la crau over the pegau. Even better after 5 more days!

HdR Farewll BBQ (Hospice du Rhone): Nice to get another chance at this. I might have even liked it more. Purple in color. Floral nose with spices, minerals and lots of kirsch. Its a big wine but showing a nice complexity as it unwinds in the glass. Lots of fruit. Fresh acidity. Long finish.

Christmas Eve "Eve" or Twas the Night Before the Night Before with Some Really Great Wines (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. I think this got a couple hours of slow-O; plus a 90 minute decant. Drank 1 glass over 30+ minutes. I'll echo most of what Chablis28 said. With this producer, I usually find that it really needs significant age to shine, and then when it shines it really shines. Lots of garrigue on the nose with black fruit, herbal, green, spice. The palate is also dense, black fruits, cassis, green, herbal, licorice, very firm tannins, good length. This was in a better place than the '12 I tasted last week, but still an infant. Mine will have to stay tucked away for now. Needs 3-5 years.

Tonight, a work in progress. Like so many VTs they can be bit tricky in their adolescence. With food this was pretty drinkable. Without, it seemed out of balance, tannic, medicinal and desperately in need of more time. Appreciate having an opportunity to check in on it as I have 3 more myself.

To my taste this was less than I expected...seems overly sweet, maybe over-extracted and a bit astringent...for a 2010 I anticipated a bit more medium bodied wine and better balance...fruit, mainly black got lost for me.

Beautifully integrated with soft, supple tannins that create a light mouthfeel without diminshing its complexity. Berry fruit and loamy earth on the nose and through to mid-palate, with hints of cherry, tobacco and limestone/slate with a medium-long finish. Decanted, but was beautiful right out of the bottle, which was a pleasant surprise for such a young Chateauneuf. Paired well with filet prepared oscar style. Shared with friends and finished quickly, so could not observe any fall off over time. A real beauty, this one should age well for a number of years to come.

A delicious, inviting wine, bursting with layers of flavor: deep, red fruit; pepper; forest floor; some floral notes; and lush tannins. That said, I cannot see scoring this in the mid-high 90's as some have done, not for my tastes, which makes this an interest wine with which to calibrate palates. Did seem to close down a bit after 90 minutes or so.

One of the best Young Chateaneufs I've ever tasted!
This has all of the amazingly sexy fruit of the 2009, but elevates to another level with strong serious framing tannins. Red fruits dominate with serious purity and black fruits slide in to add complexity. This is a beautiful long-lasting C9.

Decanted for nearly four hours before drinking. Translucent dark purple in color. Musky scent at opening, but this blew off with time. Also sour and spicy at opening, but the sourness subdued with time, leaving only the spiciness. Woody scent. Black pepper on the palate overpowering all other flavors, with an aftertaste of capsum. Seems very closed and made to last for quite some time. This was surprising, as every other 2010 CNDP I have had thus far has been very approachable. Best I not open the remaining bottle for at least 5 years. Will try this again tomorrow.

Completely agree with ERICLI's comments below. This CDP was tight and closed for business even after a 3 hour decant. Surprising how little it is offering up this time. Should have known better but fortunately this was only a 375 ml bottle. Will forget about the others in my cellar and check back in a few years on this one. NR.

Dark color, typical CDP with bubble gum nose, full of cherry and sweet fruit. However, it is still too young where all the goodies not smooth out and well blended. Still feel the structure on palate but keep evolving for the 2 hours. I should keep the other 2 bottles not open until 2020.

Way too young to drink now. Glass decante an hour before it is even drinkable. A little earthy with smoke and spice. Structure is there, but it needs patience.

94+ pts

nice nose of spice and garriques, good round fruit and tannins have smoothed out, nice long finish. Had after a 2007 Guigal CndP and had a lot more going for it. Good drinking now and probably will do as well or better for another 5 plus years, maybe longer. But it was not too early to open it.

Licorice, cherry and black fruit. Sweetness and power combine to make a superb CDP. True depth of flavour with wonderful balance makes this one top shelf wine to savour. I could wax lyrical for a long time on this but I will just sum up by saying that it is drinking beautifully now before the typical shutdown period hits and will come out the other side as a classic, complex amazing CDP - a must buy.

I wanted to try one of these to see if I should buy a case as I did with 2007. So lets find out.
Opened at 11.30 am to consume tonight . Initial impressions are amazing nose of sweet fruit and light spice. Bright amber color that is transparent when swirled with nice legs. Medium body with smooth mouth sweet fruit and not to heavy. Moderate balanced acidity with fine tannins that are hiding behind the fruit. The finish is balanced and so smooth it goes on and on. Dinner at 7.30 pm. The wine opened up and became slightly more complex but the profile remained the same. Amazing young CDP that is drinking as well if not better young than the 2007. I can't believe how fine the tannins are and how great this shows at this point. Balanced and Beautiful. Going to buy a case soon.
Tempted to sample this wine, I opened a bottle, but it was clearly way too early. This wine is at least 5 years away from being accessible.
Massive tannins that fall in line with most CDP's from this vintage, there was a distinct barnyard smell and taste on the mid palate, which followed the wine throughout. Very traditional, old school CDP. Not my preferred style, but I believe this wine should be left down to rest so that it can further develop.

With ripe, juicy, red plum, black raspberry, pepper, earth and green olive notes, this full bodied, concentrated, beefy Southern Rhone has a lot to offer. With time, when the tannins soften and the wine evolves, this should offer a much better tasting experience.

Southern Rhone and Thereabouts (SF Wine Trading Company): Light red, paler rim. For its color, it packs surprising punch and weight. Backward but lush feel, brown spice, bark, rising tannins and a good dose of licorice toward the end. A very classic, restrained Vieux Telegraphe that needs plenty of time.

Earlier review by smphelps nailed it. This wine is intense, tight, and lacking in complexity. Disappointing, but obviously way too soon to be drinking this. Should've known better given the vintage, but I was curious.

Decanted and then drank a 375 just to see how it was. It was good but needed a longer decant or better yet a couple more years in the cellar and will be great. Dark with a nose of black fruit, dusty herbs and a bit of smoky fat but upon tasting the fruit, tannins and other parts haven't yet come together.

Rich and dense, with serious tannins and sharp acidity. Everything about this wine is intense at present. Not as impressed by the fruit as I was expecting, though it seems this wine might be tightening up for the next five years or so. Certainly built for the cellar. At present, blackberry, olive, and chocolate, but no real nuance or subtlety. If you can manage it, ignore it.

Outstanding wine. Rich dark plummy fruit with some structure and tannins. Interesting and complex. In comparison with a recent 2009, the 2010 is less lush, has more structure and has less of a stewed fruit aspect. Both are great wines.

I can definitively say that this wine is approaching the end of its early drinkability and will soon be fully shut down. The showing this past weekend was truly a wild one as the wine never fully settled into any sort of cohesive drinking experience. The potential, however, was there and the wine showed truly impressive glimpses of the greatness to come. The notes ranged from balanced - with delicious black cherry and figgy coffee grounds intertwined with a fantastic minty herbaciousness, to totally unruly - dropping red and blue fruit dominated bombs with hints of alcohol and a wall of tarry tannin showing strongly. It never settled down to one or the other for any length of time and was truly a delight to follow over an entire day. That being said, unless you have a tremendous amount stashed away, it would be a shame to open now as this will be truly spectacular in the years to come. For now, it only showed glimpses. Over the course of the day my scores ranged from 92-96 so I will call it 94+ for now with a very strong likelihood of it reaching incredible heights in the future.
Tasted at the 2013 New York wine Experience Wine very young and un-evolved. interesting smells and complex taste. Essentially too young to really get anything out of it at this stage. I can imagine it will have a great future.
NY Wine Experience (Marriot Marquis): This was a big bruiser of a wine. noticeable tannins, lots of energy, gobs of red fruit along with spices and minerality and touch of leather. This should age nicely and tame down a bit to show all its secondary notes.

Will take some time for this to reveal itself but showing considerable complexity already. Remarkably persistent finish has me looking foward to trying again in 3 - 5 years. Too young to rate but has potential to be 95.

See previous notes. Absolutely the best La Crau; the nose and palate are so diversely, inextricably locked. Designed for a very long study. So much climat, grilled ostrich and river stone, then plum and tons of lavender. Drink 2018 -.

This is a fantastic wine that morphs with every sip. Decanted for two hours before diving in and drank over half a day. Soft tannins; showing roundness in her youth. Cedar, toasted marshmallows and creme brûlée seque into dark fruit, espresso and licorice as she opens up. Definitely drinks well now, but will be a beauty in a few years.

No worries about opening one of these early. It's totally open and a pleasure to both smell and drink. Pulled the cork and out gushed fresh aromas of berries & garrigue. Even more so once I decanted it for around 90 minutes before tasting. And just to obsess, I triple decanted but doubt it was necessary. I chilled this down to around 55 degrees since its CDP and the alc is 14.5%. This is packed with beautiful fruit, tar and spice. I think, the slightly higher than usual for CDP - 15% of Mouvedre, helps add complexity to this wine. This feels like a middle weight due to its lovely structure. The texture is velvety. Garnet red in color not, purple. 3 more btls for down the road. This stands out as much more traditional in style than a recent 2010 Charvin that was an oaky mess at this stage.

Popped and poured from split. This is a deep, dark, dense ruby wine. The nose is wonderful with garrigue, herbs, earth, salt, and ripe rich fruit. The flavor is rich, savory, and loaded. This is great already, but only going to get better with time. No rating due to my infanticide, but this will be very, very good with time. This may be one of the all time great Vieux Telegraphes.

Dull ruby, light edge, not very extracted; ripeness right off the bat, fruitcake, dried orange, fig, raspberry, cranberry; palate soft and open uncharacteristically for Vieux Telegraphe, not sure if tannins are really well hidden or just not there, hot rocks, figs and tart red fruit linger on the finish; this is very good but I personally liked the '07 more at this age.

Discrete nose of typical CdP Grenache with red cherry/kirsch character. On the palate strong, young, dusty but well integrated tannins, good freshness, typical for 2010. Aromatically a little bit too one-dimensional grenachy for my taste as I prefer CdP with more noticeable Mourvedre aromas as well, they just seem more fresh and complex. May be this wine will get there with age as it also posesses Murvedre and Syrah. 93+

Wow, it’s been a while since I have been wowed by such a young CdP. Decanted for about 4 hours and then put back in the bottle with a lightly placed cork for another 6 to 8 hrs. A fine and immediately gratifying nose, all sorts of spices, but not overdone, kirsch, fresh flowers and asphalt rounding it off. This is currently a wine of pure structure vs. fruit, at least that’s how my bottle came across last night. While dark and brooding in color, and certainly flexing some serious tannic muscle, this nonetheless also carried balance, precision and restraint, all in just the right working proportion. Very long and contemplative finish. Even a novice could see this here is a wine that is going to go the distance, 20 years, probably more. Superb wine.

Wait for a decent period.... Lavender, melted licorice, grilled ostrich, river stones, soy sauce and Chinese five-spice. Longer than a decade and the echo of coffee bean. More majestic than any previous vintage; the tannins are fine and cajoined. The backbone suggests enjoyment many years from now. Drink 2018 - 2033.

Outstanding young bottle. Slow O 8 hours, one hour decant, consumed over next three. Plum, earth, leather on the nose. Dark fruits on a full palate. Great balance, fruit in check with an acid zing. Tannins present but not obnoxious. A great example of a C9P that is more old style than the overripe style that has become more common. Many years left, drinks great young, will likely go dumb for a bit, then clearly has the ability to drink great old.

Well, this is a weirdo in the 2010 CdP community…in a nice, unique way. The dress is light, the nose too, but it is well constructed and profound, with some developed yet young nose of wood. The mouth is nicely built and masculine, with a singing 35 seconds final. I preferred the 2007 overall, but remember that I always find Vieux Télegraphe a little approximate to taste on release, while they are gorgeous with just a pair of years of age.

Cherry liqueur and underbrush really jumped out off the PnP at cellar temp, along with some high notes from the acid and oak. Medium to full bodied texture. Flavors of currant, prune, and mixed berries eventually dominate the flavor profile along with some mint, and good oak support. Shows chewy tannins (with a little bite-back on the back end), and finishes very well, medium to long in length, and with the mint note rising in prominence. This is modern stuff, but there's plenty of CdP character. There's even a slight bit of funk, but overall the clean fruit melds very well with the rustic edges. Hit its stride after 2-3 hours of air on the first night. Also showed great on day 2. No doubt an epic Télégraphe.

Black fruits and green olives on opening, this took hours to even begin to open up, by which point it was already drunk up and we were moving on the next bottle. Beautiful, silky structure with fine tannins, I can see this going for quite a while, but there was a porty, confit aspect to the fruit, probably normal for a southern wine from a hot year, that just wasn't really my style.

The wine was quite interesting, in part, because of an intense mid-palate - a very powerful and sweet/sappy berry core in the middle and a finish that went on and on. This had some surprising minerality to it too. I thought this quite approachable for a 2010.
Was really impressed with this - probably the best young VT I've ever had.

Incredible. First taste from bottle was structured and dynamic. Lot's of dark fruit and smoky leather flavors and nose.
Decanted 1/2 of bottle for about 3.5 hours and left the remained in bottle to settle.
Decanted half became full of vanilla and fudge on the nose. Herbs, forest floor, rich soil and gravely flavors with lighter fruit. Dances on the tongue with light berries and cherry flavors. Finish has a quick bump of black pepper and then fades, slowly, into herbaceous wonder.
Bottled portion held the nose from the first taste, but with a bit more elegance. Taste held the vanilla and fudge flavors in spades instead of revealing them on the nose. Fruit was darker and a bit less elegant, but awesome nonetheless.
All in all, great stuff. Needs some time to finish developing, perhaps 5-10 years before trying again.

Decanted and poured, this wine showed forward aromatics of red and black fruit, black olive, herbs and granite. At this stage the bouquet evolves very little with airing and its youthful scale at times seems awkward. The color is a youthful medium to dark ruby. The full bodied palate gives a dense, concentrated impression. Everything is here for this wine to improve with significant additional bottle age. This will reward extended cellar time.

Very accessible for a young VT. Overall, I'm blown away by the balance here. Great structure, delicious fruit, all perfectly in line. This is already so good it's going to be hard to keep my hands off.
The nose features an unusual (for CdP) floral element. along with more typical herbs and fruit. The palate is very lively. Typical CdP flavors, great depth, some rustic tannins at the end.
Terrific wine.

Vignobles Brunier Releases-Pigeoulet, Pallieres, and Vieux Telegraphe (SF Wine Trading Company): Deeper color than either Gigondas. Complex nose, not at all fruit driven. Real lushness and depth balanced by savory minerals and soil. At this point, you can feel more than taste the fruit. Sneaky core of acidity that is completely buffered. With everything in balance like this, I imagine this VT evolving gracefully for several decades. Outstanding stuff and the highlight of the range.

Tasted at the Vieux Télégraphe tasting room in Bedarrides this past September. I believe that Brunier has another big winner here - if this wine isn't talked-about, it will be only because they have set such a high bar with their '05 and '07. This is another wine in that mold; in fact, tasting the '10 now reminds me of the '05 at the same phase in its life, shortly following release. I don't need to tell you what a new-school Chateauneuf-du-Pape tastes like. You already know. You know that Vieux Telegraphe will deliver that, with a slight twist of Asian Spice, or Nori. And you know whether or not you like it. If you do, and I certainly do, I would not hesitate to stockpile this wine. Once more: this wine is awesome.

Note : 16,75/20 i.e. 93/100

2/13/2021 - Eudemis Likes this wine:

The palate shares the fruit and some licorice with some great mineral laced throughout. I don’t have a real reference point for whether I popped this too soon or not as I know these can really age. Medium-full to full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of sweet dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, earthy & minerals. Lengthy, lingering black fruit and tar finish. I love the second personality - rough and bawdy. A great experience.

Drinking very well after couple hour decant. ripe dark fruit but without the overcooked fruit you sometimes get with Grenache. Balanced and smooth with no hard edges, good acidity and a nice polished finish. will be interesting to see this wine in another 5 years or so but drinking well now.

The body id still fleshy with the structure to hold it. secondary flavors are coming in around the current and blackberries. Drinking very well now but Parker says let it sit another 3 years, so will hold off for another year for sure. Now i regret just buying 1 case!

Much more opened than the bottle drunk in 2013. after a 4 hour decant - nose about the same but not as fresh as when opened, silky tannins, balanced, but still a babe, next bottle in 3 years, I concur with Parker on this beauty

The palate is also dense, black fruits, cassis, green, herbal, licorice, very firm tannins, good length. This was in a better place than the '12 I tasted last week, but still an infant.

This is great already, but only going to get better with time. No rating due to my infanticide, but this will be very, very good with time. This may be one of the all time great Vieux Telegraphes.
