Tuesday, April 25, 2023 - Vieux Telegraphe Vertical (The Sun Street Hotel, Liverpool Street): A darker red, closer to the 2005. A nose like blackberry jam, this is full of opulent cool blue fruit. Superbly balanced, close to ideal fruit and acidity with loads left in the tank. I felt that the 2001, 2005 and the 1990 were drinking better on the night, but this vintage I think will eclipse the lot further down the line, it has everything ready and in place but all in the background. A wonderful future awaits so forget about this for five or even seven years and then come back to it. 92 this evening, but I'd pencil it in for 95.
