93 Points

Saturday, August 3, 2013 - No worries about opening one of these early. It's totally open and a pleasure to both smell and drink. Pulled the cork and out gushed fresh aromas of berries & garrigue. Even more so once I decanted it for around 90 minutes before tasting. And just to obsess, I triple decanted but doubt it was necessary. I chilled this down to around 55 degrees since its CDP and the alc is 14.5%. This is packed with beautiful fruit, tar and spice. I think, the slightly higher than usual for CDP - 15% of Mouvedre, helps add complexity to this wine. This feels like a middle weight due to its lovely structure. The texture is velvety. Garnet red in color not, purple. 3 more btls for down the road. This stands out as much more traditional in style than a recent 2010 Charvin that was an oaky mess at this stage.
