Wednesday, September 26, 2018 - shared with pat at selkirk manor. last tasted 5/2018. can't believe i let four months go by before re-visiting. last time i said that i would open the next bottle over the summer so i guess i made it just under the deadline. this bottle was still fresh although it impresses as being fully mature. i have never been disappointed by neyers, even when drinking past suggested drinking range. previous note remains relevant from which i quote: another great bottle of neyers which rarely disappoints. stylistically a cross between old and new world. still has lemon color but with some golden tones indicating that the wine may be reaching old age. generous nose. i love the combination of stone fruit, lemon, hints of oak and hints of butter. also some honey now which also suggests that eight years past the vintage may be pushing things a bit. still well structured but acid is starting to recede. although not as powerful and alluring as it was a few years ago, it still offers an interesting taste experience as it slides towards old age gracefully. glad to have enjoyed it now. will finish the rest by early spring.
