Sunday, April 27, 2008 - Replacement bottle for a poxed 2000 returned to shop last summer. Wonderful colour, brght greenish gold, very vivid and vital. Floral, mineral, gently oaky nose. Almost waxy. Dense, quite a viscous feel in the mouth with a slightly waxy / lanolin texture that I'd normally associate with the northern Rhone. Still quite tight and unyielding - opened up a bit more by the following lunchtime. Very mineral with some white fruit and lime. Structured, quite taut. Slightly smokey finish with faint hints of oak. Lovely and probably needs another 5 years if pox doesn't get it first. Very impressive and so much better than I was expecting. ***(*)
