  cork totally wet, with some schmutz on the top; wine is clear and clean, starting out with a straightforward apple flavor, then quickly developed some complexity, with lanolin, earth, dark stone, and some tea; Still has some acidity. No/minimal oxidation on this one. Still enjoyable with fancy cheese and crackers.

  The 5th of 6 bottles. All oxidized. Arrgh. Luckily of all the different bottlings I have of Colin-Deleger only this one has been premoxed. I stopped buying it soon after this vintage.

  Replacement bottle for a poxed 2000 returned to shop last summer. Wonderful colour, brght greenish gold, very vivid and vital. Floral, mineral, gently oaky nose. Almost waxy. Dense, quite a viscous feel in the mouth with a slightly waxy / lanolin texture that I'd normally associate with the northern Rhone. Still quite tight and unyielding - opened up a bit more by the following lunchtime. Very mineral with some white fruit and lime. Structured, quite taut. Slightly smokey finish with faint hints of oak. Lovely and probably needs another 5 years if pox doesn't get it first. Very impressive and so much better than I was expecting. ***(*)
