Monday, July 11, 2016 - Disgorged August, 2014. Full yellow, gentle bead. Subtle scents of herbs, ginger, and faint brioche. Oooh, that's dry. Creamy density that can only come from old vine Chardonnay. For a brief moment in the mouth, you think you are drinking a Côte de Beaune Grand Cru, but then the mid-palate and finish are an attention-getting mix of fierce acidity and jagged stoniness. While this may sound a bit rough, somehow it does not come across as either too austere or tart, which I think is a result of the great material that offsets all of this skeletal structure. This bottle definitely made me sit up and take notice!
