Saturday, November 21, 2009 - This bottle, sourced from K&L a few years ago, was in outstanding condition, with a bottom neck level, clean label which did not look decades old, and a firm moist cork which came out easily in one piece. Could this have been a late release? The importer lable gave no hint. In any case, this was an outstanding bottle of '70 Ducru, a wine I first tasted in 1980 and have had dozens of times since. Deep ruby center with orange rim; frangrant, pleasant bouquet of cedar and spice. Medium body, perfect acidity and bright fruit with a clean finish. Very much old Bordeaux style; fully mature of course, and seemingly with many years of life ahead. The only negative was its relative simplicity on both nose and palate, mostly blackcurrant.
