90 Points

Wednesday, April 9, 2014 - Respi-aerate to decanter. Color dark red with black hues, and what seems like just a hint of brick at the edge. Wide open bouquet of cassis, blackberries, leather, cocoa, violets, and some mild vegetal notes of Cabernet Franc adding complexity. Aromas are decidedly more evolved than my first taste and bottle last Fall. This is confirmed on taste, with fruit a little less exuberant than I remember, along with cocoa, leather, rich earth, and herbal notes. The tannins are still slightly tight, and now I wonder whether or not they will outlive the fruit. Overall very enjoyable and may be at its peak.
