This was sold to us at Herman, MO after we tasted a bunch of Missouri reds, so it tasted like it was going to be worth the $25.00 in 2014. Now we know it was very overpriced.

Wines At Our Table; Week of March 8, 2015; 3/2/2015-3/9/2015: Opaque violet color with dark fruit, tobacco, and sweetened cacao aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with dusty tannins, and cassis, fresh cherry, blackberry, and bittersweet chocolate flavors. Medium finish. Blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 4% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec. 14.5% alcohol

Received a few bottles early last month. Tasted one last week. Had to order more! Celebrated the re-order arrival by opening another tonight. This is a very well-done blend. 67% Cab Sauv (hence the name). At seven years, this is excellent today -- the challenge will be to save a few bottles for two or three years. My score is a bit higher that JS's, but we're talking personal opinion here.

I am hard pressed to find a better wine at this ridiculous price of $13.99. Its difficult to express the value in this wine. It is smooth, ripe, rich, and easy to drink, but still has enough tannin to bring structure and elegance to its svelte body. I drank 3/4 of a bottle before forcing myself to stop and save the rest for the next day....unprecedented for me. Even better than my previous bottle.
This was given a splash decant and left to open up for about a half hour. Good acidity, and fairly fruit forward, but very tannic. How tannic? We drank this alongside 2010, 2011, 2012 Quilceda Creek CVR (the ``2nd label" of this wine) and a 2011 Fidelitas Ciel du Cheval Cab. Sauv., all of which are pretty seriously strutured wines, and this was far and away the most tannic. This was more fruit forward in style, but perhaps it's not a fair comparison since those wines are straight Bordeaux style, while this has a splash of Syrah, which added some meatiness. Good wine for what it is, but not so much complexity.

A no-nonsense PnP mid-weight Cab blend. Nice fruit, grip and structure. Drinking very well within 30 minutes after opening. Recommended if you get it for under $20.

Decanted. A Pretty, fruit forward nose with cherry, vanilla, and hints of cinnamon and brown spice. The pallet is medium bodied, with traces of black fruit up front, and black spice, anise, and black pepper dominating the mid pallet. The finish is respectable. Compared to the nose there was surprisingly little fruit.
There is still a tannic backbone but I get a sense that this wine will not progress much further. Very enjoyable for maybe another year.

Respi-aerate to decanter. Color dark red with black hues, and what seems like just a hint of brick at the edge. Wide open bouquet of cassis, blackberries, leather, cocoa, violets, and some mild vegetal notes of Cabernet Franc adding complexity. Aromas are decidedly more evolved than my first taste and bottle last Fall. This is confirmed on taste, with fruit a little less exuberant than I remember, along with cocoa, leather, rich earth, and herbal notes. The tannins are still slightly tight, and now I wonder whether or not they will outlive the fruit. Overall very enjoyable and may be at its peak.

Respi-aerate to decanter. Color not what I expected, with loads of black hues accompanying dark reds, full body, opaque. Big bouquet of dark chocolate, blackberries, cassis, violets, a little herb, and tar. On taste lots of structured black fruit on a forward palate, along with cocoa, earth, and notes of herb and anise. Acid low and a weighty textured finish of medium length. Overall outstanding for its flavors and the fact that it shows elements of the other varietals blended with the 67 Cab. High quality fruit apparent from a great vintage. Certainly worth 20 bones.

A very fruit forward, medium bodied blend of 67% cab, 15% cab franc, 8% merlot, 5% syrah, 4% petite verdot & 1% malbec. Tannins offer a light grip and hint of tobacco and pepper. This is a fairly simple, easy drinking wine that does not overwhelm or underwhelm. Could hold its own with a burger or steak. Dark berry fruit and cassis, somewhat brambly.Got this in a monthly wine club so probably overpaid but if I saw it at around $15 I wouldn't mind having another. Not sure about the winery or its production, as this is the only vintage of this wine. Probably has another good year or two if cellared properly, hard to tell after that. Glad I opened when I did, still very fresh and bright for a simple quaffer.
