90 Points

Sunday, September 1, 2013 - From 75cl, perfect cork, not decanted, enjoyed over 2 hours after opening. In far better condition than my previous bottle (24.12.2012), this is obviously still young, with an intense, virile blood-red colour, slight bricking to rim and an almost oily texture which flows distinctly slowly in the glass. Scent: cepes, beef tea, salt, fresh blood. Entry medium-bodied, but grows more serious over a non-linear palate with phases of glycerine-smoothness, challenging gamey highness (roast pigeon/venison/juniper-berry...), juicy plum/(over)ripe black cherry fruit, residually rough powdery tannins, and vivid red-fruit acidity (oops, was that just a flash of Chambolle-Musigny?) The finish is tingling, electric, "burgundian". Fine now, 2 hours after opening (at first we thought it was a bit stewed, but that soon changed). Time in hand. 90(-91[+?])P
