Thursday, December 25, 2014 - Opened intitially last night, TN is from 12+ hours later...after being in the cellar temp over night.
A villages level wine from a top producer and a top Cru village.
A nice, fresh looking pale ruby/purple color in the glass.
Nose shows off fresh red apple skin, strawberry, raspberry jam, then a hint of asphalt and rocks. Quite perfumey and orchard-fresh...but there is a simultaneous sappy depth to the fresh fruit aromas.
The palate is med- in body, and the dirty rocks and asphalt actually hit me first, along with an iodine quality, which was pleasantly unexpected. The deeper-pitched sappy yet fresh red fruit builds in the background, eventually overcoming the soil flavors, and pushing through to the med length, very delicious finish. There is great med+ acidity, and with the depth of fruit and soil notes and ample acidity, this wine can last quite some time.
Drinking beautifully now as a young Beaujolais, but it will improve in bottle through 2017+ and likely drink well through 2023 or so. Great wine, great value, I will search out this wine and producer to take up some space in my cellar...
