Monday, December 12, 2016 - The release of this vintage marked a time when I began to lose interest in this region (had been a fan for over a decade at that point), finding the wines, for my palate, generally too ripe and unbalanced. As I prefer to have some age on a wine, I do so with the careful consideration that the wine's got to be able to offer the right amount of freshness as well, once said time has arrived. That said, this was nice, and did have a few moments of fun, but it was also pretty unmemorable. I may age my last one as an experiment; I want to believe, but this bottle left me wanting.

Aerated to decanter 4 hours, returned to (clean) bottle and served at cellar temp. A pretty tight range of foods/dishes, the wine not showing a lot of breadth.
