Wednesday, August 30, 2017 - Surprisingly youthful and ripe, but not in a tannic sort of way. Big balsamic notes, ripe cherry, figs, herbal notes and a bit of tomato, but this is very much a fruit driven style of wine. There are some subtle oak notes, but I would never describe this as being oaky at all. It feels like it is a little lacking in acidity (although far from flabby) but it is probably technically medium and just masked by the fruit a bit. Very smooth ripe tannins that are fully integrated. This was good straight out of the bottle, but better after about 45 minutes. Very good wine, but made in a style that is more flat out delicious, rather than classical. I think this will age and mature for at least a decade, with the slightly lower acidity being my only slight concern.
