Saturday, April 19, 2014 - Aldo Conterno's "entry-level" Barolos continue to impress me. I say entry-level in quotes as these are hardly entry level. These are the real deal.

See: Med/m+ brick-ruby, fades to a lighter rim… On pop-and-pour, there is nearly no rusty orange rim at this stage, but it certainly gains with some air.

Smell: Gorgeous, with typical the Aldo Conterno imprint. Layered, deep, concentrated and detailed. A packed nose, with notes of Smoked meat, spices, mocha, licorice, forest floor, black fig, blueberry, maduro, black plum, blackberry, incense, rose.

Taste: M+ body, high acid at first, but integrates beautifully with air. Medium to m+ tannins, sinewy and bracing at first, but quickly gains breadth and flesh with air. Finish is long, with notes of black plum, dried blueberry, cedar, mineral and soft rose.

Two bottles left, can't wait to see what this does in time...
If you have a few bottles. Definitely crack one now, and then see what it does in 7 years.
