Thursday, October 15, 2009 - This was showing more youthful than I was expecting it to be. Crimson with a hint of bricking on the edges. This took a while to open up and didn't really start strutting it's stuff for a couple of hours. Nose has a bit of barnyard, leather, pencil lead, dark fruit, and crushed stone. Good dark fruit and minerality on the palate. Still has good acidity and a firm tannic backbone. I would never guess this to be 19 years old. This will easily go another 5-7 years.
