Wednesday, March 24, 2010 - Old World Grab Bag (Dino Restaurant, Washington, DC): Not decanted, opened for an hour. The nose starts out at the wrong end of a wet dog (which many of us found very endearing actually) but transitions toward something more like blood sausage. Even in the mouth, fruit is present but it is background only to a swirl of compost, cedar, meat and musk. Although I pegged this as a bottle I brought, this was tasted blind, and after the reveal 20 minutes later, and the most animal tones in this had blown off, the fruit actually was more in the foreground and didn't seem as dried out. Long finish, long craving for more after. I'm sure this would have scored higher if I had spent a couple hours with it.
