Tuesday, December 17, 2013 - The long soaked cork came out cleanly. I decanted and the wine started to open in 45 min.
The slight mustiness adds character and serves to remind you of its pedigree. On the nose there is cedar, woodsmoke, wet earth and minerals. A touch of barnyard blows off quickly.
The pallet has black spice, cedar, tobacco and coffee. A thread of tart fruit runs from start to finish.
This bottle is silky smooth and chewey. Probably past its prime but still dignified and very enjoyable. It may have some staying power left. A beautiful old bottle. 91
