Thursday, July 27, 2023 - Initially smells like a Bordeaux but on closer inspection some clear differences. With this, the fruit (blackcurrant) comes first and then the graphite or cedar 2nd. Some Eucalyptus and methol notes on the nose also mixed with some spice. Matching the colour, this tastes quite fresh on the palate. A couple of hours in the decanter helped this a lot for my preference. After a couple of hours, more tertiary flavours including leather. On the finish, again some spice with cinnamon and star anise. Still tannic but of a fantastic velvety quality with medium+ acid. This was very good but if you asked me whether I preferred this or the younger Diamond Creek's I've had, I'd say the latter. Will need to drink more Diamond Creek's to draw a conclusion on what this means.
