Friday, March 15, 2024 - Celebrating my birthday last evening with a home cooked meal, including a grilled ribeye steak. Chose this big boy to celebrate. A wine I've had several times and rated 96+. Surprisingly, this 17 yr old bottle was well past it's prime with almost no fruit. Prominent tertiary flavors. Palate of dried dark fruit, worn dusty leather, dried tobacco, dried mushroom, balsamic, and some oak in the background. Still enjoyable to drink but not at the normal level.
