Wednesday, June 5, 2019 - This wine opens with a deep cherry-crimson colour and a restrained nose of strawberry, dark cherries, touches of tea leaf and bergamot and a slatey earthiness. The palate has a tight ball of lovely fruit and fine tannin that is well balanced but which fails to open and provide true length and poise. Is this a wine that will slowly open and reveal itself like a structured Burgundy ? It will be slow under Diam but other examples of the standard cuvee suggest a positive evolution.
