I heeded my own advice and waited almost exactly one year since my last bottle. This bottle was actually quite similar, but did show some evolution I think. Again, was wound up pretty tight on the pop 'n pour with a little initial stink that blew off pretty quickly. Wasn't particularly enjoyable at this point and it was late, so I vacuum sealed it and wasn't able to try it again for 2 days. At this point, I was greeted by lovely lifted WV Pinot aromatics. On the palate, this was brooding and dense with pure fruit, not encumbered by any overt oak character. Plenty of acidity, but not in a light and bright presentation at all. Texture was sappy and succulent, typical of many PGC wines. An intellectual new world Pinot but also pleasing and enjoyable. Still kind of felt a bit wound up and not fully expressive, but this has the density and concentration to go for a long time further in the cellar and could be 20+ year wine in my estimation.
Note to self - don't try another bottle for 2+ years at least.
