Tuesday, April 30, 2013 - Popped and poured. The wine was medium to dark purple in colour. It offered blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry, spices, chocolate, cigar tobacco, cigar smoke and coconut on the nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, wet stone, spices, vanilla, chocolate, coffee and coconut, paired with medium-level ripe tannin, medium-level acidity and a good, creamy mouthfeel. Although the wine was aged in second to fourth fill barriques it came across as heavily oaked. A solid, young wine with plenty of fruit that delivered against its price, but needs another year in the cellar to settle. Start drinking in 2014. 87+
