93 Points

Thursday, October 19, 2023 - Judgement of Eagan (Jason P's, St. Paul, MN): Very dark red color. Slow-O for 2.5 hrs. Drank a glass over 90 minutes. Classic dried earth notes, scorched earth, orange peel, cigar, tobacco, medium bodied and elegant, Burg-like in style and structure at this point; grainy tannins, plenty of dark fruits yet, tart cherry, blood orange, firmish tannins, leather and wood notes. Very good, got better with air, but not as impressive as another recent bottle. Vastly different but the nod goes to the '97 Insignia. Group vote 5-3 for Insignia. 92+ to 93pts.
