Sunday, April 13, 2014 - This tannic wine did not have a strong aroma, opening with leather, and light notes of raspberry, cherry, smoked meat and a hint of anise. There was not strong fruit on the attack, just a hint of cherry, but finishes with blackberry and charcoal. It is medium - fullbodied with a rough tannic feel and moderate finish. Although not a great wine for sipping, it is a classic European wine in that it pairs wonderfully with food, especially cheese and grilled meat.
