This tannic wine did not have a strong aroma, opening with leather, and light notes of raspberry, cherry, smoked meat and a hint of anise. There was not strong fruit on the attack, just a hint of cherry, but finishes with blackberry and charcoal. It is medium - fullbodied with a rough tannic feel and moderate finish. Although not a great wine for sipping, it is a classic European wine in that it pairs wonderfully with food, especially cheese and grilled meat.

A lovely representation of this varietal with classic flavors and aromas and a strong tannic backbone. Clear and ruby-colored with fast legs, This wine strikes the nose first with a strong slate aroma, then opens up with blackberry, plum, violet, gingerbread spice and a hint of game. Blackberry jam on the attack, leather on the midpalate and a lingering finish tinged by gingerbread spice. It is medium to full bodied. This is a lovely sipping wine, and also pairs well with roasted meats.
