Saturday, September 12, 2020 - Dark ruby in the glass. Nose takes half an hour to turn on but is highly detailed, elegant, spicy, firmly secondary looking tertiary, olive, pine, drying cherry, oregano. Kemo Sabe nailed it in 2017 in that this does smell like old Barolo. Hitting higher notes an hour in, softening and lightening up. Roasty red tomato in a Rouget sort of style. Palate is still well endowed and holding onto strong dark red fruit. Great looking bottle but have to imagine this is about peak. Detailed and complicated, does not obviously hit you over the head with straighforwad excellence, really makes you look, but there is a lot here. Last pour seems to be the prettiest. Very cool.
