Friday, August 7, 2015 - Aromas of medium+ intensity are dense and reminiscent of spiced fruit cake with plum sauce, fig paste, prune and date aromas with allspice, cinnamon and clove. Ancillary aromas of violet pastilles, vanilla, coconut, blackboard herbs chocolate and tobacco with hints of star anise.
On the palate this is full bodied and dense showing medium-plus ripe sweet tannins and medium-plus acidity and alcohol. Flavors echo the nose and are loaded with baking spices, plum compote, fig paste, chocolate, vanilla, minerality, dark violets, cigar tobacco, coconut, blackberry liquor and black licorice. The mouthfeel is velvety with excellent density across the mid-palate before the long, grippy finish plays out lingering again on fruitcake notes.
