Added some weight after that point, and hints of sour cherry and blackberry fruit began to peek out from beneath a solid wall of tannins. Much better with food, its lively acidity made this a good pairing with our eggplant parmigiana. There's plenty of structure here, so more patience may be required. Still, I doubt this will ever be anywhere near as good as the fantastic 2006 and 2010.
